Breast Enlargement Plastic Surgery in Fort Worth

Breast Implant Surgery Overview

Padded. Push up. Water. Miracle. Wonder. Without a second look, most people – men and women alike – know what these words have in common: bust-enhancing bras. Even with closets full of brassieres meant to enhance the size and shape of the breast, small-chested women may feel like it's not enough. They want cleavage that's there no matter what they are wearing. Rather than hoping for a 'Miracle' or 'Wondering' what it must be like to have a filled out bust line, women today have another option. For many, breast augmentation is just the ticket to personal body confidence.

Breast enlargement is a major surgical operation. Either saline or silicone gel breast implants are inserted beneath the muscle wall in the chest, offering a natural and curvy new look to the figure. The statistics speak for themselves – since 1992, we have seen a 533 percent increase in the number of breast implant surgeries done each year, and breast enlargement is among the most popular plastic surgery procedures on the market. Your Personal Consultation in Our Fort Worth Plastic Surgery Office

There are many things to take into consideration during your consultation with Dr. Faires. Among other things, you and Dr. Faires will discuss what material (saline or silicone), size, shape, and texture you want your breast implants to be. It is important at this time to be very open about your medical history with Dr. Faires.

Plastic surgeon Dr. Faires may show you samples or types of implants and he might take a picture of you or sketch the before and after of what you look like now vs. what you will probably look like after breast implant surgery.

Information About Breast Enlargement Plastic Surgery

For this two-hour surgery, you will be given general anesthesia and will remain asleep during the entire breast enhancement procedure. A small incision will be made for the surgery - either in the armpit, below the areola, or just under the breast. Through the incision, breast implants are inserted either in front of or behind the muscle wall. If they are inserted behind the muscle wall, some say there is less chance of rupturing and it is easier to have accurate mammogram readings, so many surgeons prefer this method. Once the implants are in place, the incisions are stitched back together and the breasts are bandaged up for healing.

Limitations to the Breast Enlargement Procedure

There are two main problems that can occur with breast implants. The first is scar tissue that forms around the implant causing the breast to feel hard and the second is the deflation of the implant. Both can lead to a need for corrective surgery. When an implant deflates, and the saline solution leaks out, than it is safely absorbed by the body, but there is a subsequent unevenness of the breast that must be corrected.

Although rare, additional complications can include an infection formed around the implant, or excessive bleeding. The nipple area may become overly sensitive or less sensitive, but that usually subsides after a year.

Recovery from Breast Enlargement Cosmetic Surgery

You are likely to be in some pain following breast enlargement surgery, but it will be controlled by medication. After the first day or so, you will be able to walk around. Once your gauze comes off, Dr. Faires will probably ask you to wear a surgical bra. Your nipples may be sore for the first week, but once the bruising subsides, the pain should go away.

After about two or three weeks, your breasts will no longer be in pain from direct contact and it will take several months for scars to fade – that is why incisions were made in discreet areas.

Breast Enlargement Results

For many women, the highlight of the breast augmentation experience is the necessary shopping spree that ensues from the breast surgery procedure. You will definitely notice that your clothes drape nicely over the body, revealing the new curves. Most people are quite happy with the outcome of breast implant surgery.

Do I Also Need a Breast Lift?

How to Diagnose Your Breast

You can determine whether or not you need a breast lift using this simple test: place a pencil under the fold of your breast; if your nipples fall below the pencil, then a breast lift is needed.
