Nose Plastic Surgery in Fort Worth
Rhinoplasty Cosmetic Surgery Overview
Rhinoplasty is one of the most popular cosmetic surgery procedures. Almost anything about your nose that you would like tweaked can be done – changing the bridge, nostril width, and straightening a crooked nose. Generally, doctors prefer to operate on people ages 15 and older, because the nose is more developed. Candidates for nasal surgery should have realistic expectations about the results of the nose sculpting procedure. A rhinoplasty can alter the way you perceive yourself and your aesthetics.
Your Personal Consultation in Our Fort Worth Plastic Surgery Office
You and Dr. Faires must discuss in-depth what you want your nose to look like. Taking that into consideration, Dr. Faires will see what must be done to achieve that look by evaluating your nose breadth, length, cartilage, etc.
Information About Rhinoplasty Plastic Surgery
Generally, nose surgery lasts about two hours. The skin is separated from the bone and cartilage. The nose is reshaped to achieve the desired look and the skin is then sutured back together. A mold covering the treated area will help the nose heal into its new shape.
Limitations to the Nose Surgery Procedure
Although infrequent, there can be side effect of rhinoplasty. These can include a negative reaction to anesthesia, infection, or nosebleed. There are usually no visible scars from rhinoplasty, but small blood vessels may appear on the surface of the skin, sometimes permanently.
Recovery from Nose Reshaping Cosmetic Surgery
The first day following nose surgery should be spent in bed. Cold compresses should be used to reduce swelling around the face, especially the eyes. After about a week, swelling and bruises will subside and the nose splint and stitches can be removed and you can return to work (sitting at a desk) after only a few days.
For the first two to three weeks, any activity that raises blood pressure should be avoided, and rubbing the nose should be avoided. After eight weeks, you should feel up to speed.
Nose Sculpting Results
It might take a few weeks to feel completely healed after rhinoplasty surgery. Full recovery can actually take up to a year, but the initial healing should only take a few weeks. The results of rhinoplasty surgery are lifelong, so once you're done with nasal surgery, you do not have to keep getting corrections to maintain your look.
